My Humbleside is a project based principally on the compositions of John Taylor, Kenny Wheeler and Vince Mendoza. Exploring the gentle side of Mauro's playing, a blend of jazz and classical music emerges in Mauro’s improvisations  in a graceful dance of intervals.

The project explores the so-called ‘European Jazz’, incorporating Afro-American jazz, European folk, contemporary and classical music influences and its trio present a line-up of suitably international musicians: Mauro Banfi (Italy-piano), Matt Baker (USA-double bass) and Vasilis Sarikis (Greece-drums).

Mauro’s natural propensity towards melodic refinement speaks for his Italian music cultural background, bound to a rigorous study of harmony and various Afro-American music styles. Matt grew up in the US playing jazz and classical music and he refined his studies in Europe, providing a perfect synthesis of the two worlds.  Vasilis adds the elements of mediterranean and middle eastern music necessary to complete the sonic scenario envisaged for this project.
