Mauro Banfi was born in Varese, Italy in 1976.
First developed a love of the piano at the age of four, then refined it
in the ensuing years studying classical and jazz piano, trombone, composition
and musical arranging. Among his tutors were celebrated Italian jazz musicians
Antonio Faraò and Franco D'Andrea.
In 2003, Mauro came to London to take the prestigious Guildhall
School of Music & Drama master's degree in jazz (MMus) and two years later a bachelor’s degree in jazz at the Middlesex University
(BA Hons). This gave him the opportunity to study with respected artists such as
J. Taylor, S. Purcell, P. Churchill, N. Iles, T. Tomkins, I. Carr, C. Batchelor and S. Stroman.
