Mauro is a professional pianist with a Masters degree in Jazz Performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (2004).


Since 1992 he has worked as session musician and led bands in performances across Europe for which he has written and arranged music in a wide range of styles. Primarily a jazz specialist (Quazamba, My Humbleside, Fulvio Sigurtà Quartet, Mauro Banfi Trio, The Chooners) Mauro is versatile and experienced in many styles. His performances span a range of musical genres: gospel (No One Else Gospel Singers, Greensleeves, City of Bath Gospel Choir), rock and pop (George Merk, Quicklime), hip hop/R&B (Dark Joint Productions, Kaso, Jasmine, Brian Chase, Shady Blue), dance (Julius DJ, Alex Font), acid jazz/ funk (FreeHands, ACK) and music theatre (Rocky Horror Italia), including a theatrical tour as band leader and pianist with the actor Carlo Verdone (Sky Award 2006 and 2009) and the Soul Sisters.
